A Warm Gesture for our brave jawans
During a June holiday to Ladakh, we stopped briefly at the Kargil War Memorial at dusk. The icy 4-degree wind was biting, and even a short walk from our heated car left us breathless. Standing there, shivering in the cold, we couldn’t help but marvel at the resilience of our soldiers, enduring these harsh conditions day and night, away from their families, risking their lives to protect ours.
In that moment, an idea took root – a small token of appreciation for their immense sacrifice.
I texted my crochet group immediately, and the response was overwhelming. Despite their age and health challenges, 12 dedicated women poured their love and energy into crocheting thick caps and scarves for the Jawans.
We hope these tokens keep them warm and remind them of our gratitude.
Jai Jawan, Jai Hind.
